Iran have retained their title in the men's ParaVolley Asia Oceania men's Sitting Volleyball Championship, while China won their second consecutive title in the women’s tournament.

The Iranians earned a straight-sets win over China at Huamark Stadium in Bangkok, triumphing 25-21, 25-7, 28-26.

The competition saw Iran reassert its authority in the region as they swept all of their matches without dropping a single set.

For China, consolation comes from their runners-up spot which is enough to earn a place at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

With Iran having booked their spot at the Paralympic Games after winning the 2018 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championship title, China claimed the available place as the next highest ranked team.

The first set went down to the wire as the two sides traded with strong spikes until the score reached 19-19.

Iran upped their game to take the first set at the death, and found their bearings to rifle through the second before China responded with a stronger showing in the third.

China led 16-14 in the third set, before Iran rallied after a time-out, pushing the game into extra points before a Chinese error handed them victory.

The Chinese women are also on their way to Tokyo after beating Japan in their final in Bangkok, also in straight sets – 25-16, 25-4, 25-7.

Like Iran in the men's competition, China were dominant as they won the title without dropping a set.

Japan led during the first set, before China found their rhythm and swept to a very comfortable victory.
