The Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) is due to continue in Monaco tomorrow with the backdrop of Port d’Hercule and the iconic Prince’s Palace providing the setting.

Britain’s Ben Maher, who finished fourth in the Portuguese town of Estoril last weekend, will have a chance to catapult himself back into the number one position.

He currently sits in third place with 187 points and is just a podium position away from the top two, Pieter Devos of Belgium and Daniel Deusser of Germany.

Devos leads the way with 206 points, while Deusser is second with 190.

There will be five former winners returning to Monaco and aiming to battle for a golden ticket to this year's LGCT Super Grand Prix, including Ireland’s Shane Breen, France’s Kevin Staut, Qatar’s Bassem Hassan Mohammed and Italians Alberto Zorzi and Emanuele Gaudiano.

"The best international riders and horses will descend on the principality to face challenging technical courses in one of the smallest arenas on the Tour, where daring, scope and bravery are the key ingredients essential for success," a statement on the LGCT website reads.

"Watched over by the super-yachts and nestled in the former Formula One pit lane, this event is unique in the world of show jumping and draws crowds from around the world.

"With the Monaco event one of the jewels in the crown of the circuit, there promises to be an intense fight for the win with some big names contesting this glittering event."

Prince Albert II of Monaco and other members of the Royal Family are patrons of the event.

They will be joined by business leaders and celebrities to cheer on the riders.
