In 2017, Ibatullina became youth world champion at under-19 level and today’s success confirmed her calibre as one of the most promising pentathletes in the world.

Only last month, she triumphed at the Junior European Championships at the same venue.

Besides her individual haul, the 20-year-old took her tally for the event to three gold medals, as she added the team and individual titles to the women’s relay gold she won alongside Kseniia Fraltsova on Tuesday (July 9).

Alena Avdeeva joined her team-mates on top of the podium after finishing 15th, with Fraltsova crossing the line ninth.

With the Russians in imperious form, Great Britain spent another day in close pursuit as they collected the team bronze medal on the back of a strong individual silver for Kerenza Bryson.

She was joined on the podium by Olivia Green and Georgia Hamman, who won the women’s relay silver medal alongside Bryson two days ago.

The individual bronze medal went to Hungary's Luca Barta, who finished just ahead of Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games champion Salma Abdelmaksoud of Egypt in fourth.

Abdelmaksoud’s consolation prize was a team silver medal to celebrate with Amira Kandil and Noureen Elgamal.

"It was very interesting and very long – three days of competition," Ibatullina said.

"I’m very happy about my result and the result of my team.

"Fencing was so hard for me, three or four hours, and swimming was hard too because one week ago I was ill.

"At first I didn’t know if I would come to the Junior World Championships.

"I’m very happy."
