Top seeds Portugal, France, Poland and Italy qualified for the last 16 at the UEFA European qualifier for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Moscow.

The four teams all recorded their second victories of the tournament to progress to the knockout round and move a step closer to securing a place at the World Cup in Paraguay later this year.

Portugal, who are favourites to claim one of the five available World Cup berths at the event, thrashed Norway 12-1 in Group B at Luzhniki Park.

France continued their strong start with a 6-2 thrashing of Moldova in the other match in the group.

Jeremy Bru scored twice for the French side, while Victor Angeletti, Julien Soares, Olivier LeBlanc and Martin Wallon also found the net in a convincing performance.

Poland edged out Kazakhstan 3-2 to maintain their 100 per cent record in Group C.

Italy are also assured of one of the three spots in the last 16 from the group after they eased to a 10-1 win over Czech Republic.

Russia are also set to secure a place in the next round.

Action at the tournament, which Ukraine have withdrawn from, continues tomorrow.
