The Czech Republic earned the right to meet defending champions England in the semi-finals of the Women’s European Lacrosse Championship in Israel today with a 12-10 win over Ireland.

The Czech side had advanced as Group C winners having completed their qualifying matches with a 22-0 win over Finland in Netanya.

The hosts, third in Group A, moved through to meet three-times winners Wales in the other semi-final thanks to a 15-5 victory over Group B winners The Netherlands at Tubruq Field. 

Ireland and The Netherlands now go to the fifth-place playoffs, where their respective opponents will be Scotland - 18-4 winners over Norway today - and Germany, who beat Austria 11-8.

Norway and Austria are now due to contest the ninth-place playoffs against, respectively, Switzerland, who beat Spain 11-3 today, and Latvia, 16-4 winners over Finland.
