The Global Champions Tour (GCT) is approaching the final straight, with the 14th event set to take place in London this weekend.

Competition will take place at Royal Hospital Chelsea – home of the Chelsea Flower Show – and the home fans will have plenty of top British talent to cheer, led by Ben Maher.

Maher, currently third overall in the championship race, will ride on two of his best horses, Explosion W and F One USA, in an attempt to claim victory on home soil.

Fellow British rider Scott Brash will be looking to complete a hat-trick of victories in Chelsea, after winning in 2017 with Hello Forever and 2018 with Hello Mr President.

Harry Charles and Emily Moffitt will also be at the forefront of the British efforts, as will three members of the Whitaker family - William and his uncles Michael and Robert - in an event that has seen four home winners in the five times it has taken place.

Championship leader Pieter Devos will, as ever, be the main challenger to watch.

The Belgian, on Claire Z, will be looking to extend his 25 point overall lead over Maher with a strong showing in the English capital.

With second placed Daniel Deusser of Germany not in the running in London, this represents a great opportunity for Devos to build a commanding advantage.

Also in the hunt is Ireland's Darragh Kenny, who triumphed in the LGCT Grand Prix event in Chantilly three weeks ago on Balou du Reventon.

Competition promises to be fierce as the battle continues for the final play-offs in Prague this November.
