Lithuania's Danas Rapšys secured a second gold medal at the International Swimming Federation (FINA) World Cup as a host of World Cup records were set in Tokyo.

Rapšys earned 400 metres freestyle gold on the opening day of the meet and he followed up with the 200m freestyle crown in a World Cup record of 1min 45.74sec.

The Lithuanian made up for his disqualification from the men's 200m freestyle final at the World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea with a narrow victory at the Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center.

Rapšys touched home first in Gwangju but was disqualified for a false start to gift controversial Chinese swimmer Sun Yang the world title.

In Tokyo, Dominik Kozma of Hungary pushed him all the way to the wall but had to settle for silver 0.03 behind as American Blake Pieroni claimed the bronze medal in 1:46.62.

Ukrainian Andrii Govorov had an even tighter margin of victory in the 50m butterfly final as he held off Hungarian Szebasztián Szabó by just 0.01 to win gold.

Govorov, who is the world record holder for the event, clocked 23.10sec with Szabó right behind him in 23.11.

US swimmer Michael Price was third in 23.24.

Spain's Mireia Belmonte finished second in 8:24.28 while Yukimi Moriyama grabbed third place in 8:32.40 for Japan.
