The top seeds cruised to victory in the men's and women's singles finals at the World Squash Federation Junior Championships in Kuala Lumpur.

Both finals were all-Egyptian encounters and the favourites both prevailed in straight games at the Nicol David Arena at the National Squash Centre in Malaysia's capital.

First up was the women's final, between top ranked Hania El Hammamy - beaten in the previous two finals – and second seed Jana Shiha.

It was third time lucky for El Hammamy, who, after a closely contested first game, went on to dominate as she won 11-9, 11-6, 11-8 in 35 minutes.

El Hammamy, who sunk to her knees in delight after the winning stroke, said afterwards: "I’ve finally done it, she I’m so relieved and happy."

It was a similar story in the men's final, between top seed and reigning champion Mostafa Asal and 3/4 ranked underdog Moustafa Elsirty.

Elsirty gave Asal a scare early on, however, with three game points as the top seed was penalised for pushing his opponent into a side wall.

Asal won five successive points to take the first game and the result never looked in doubt from there as he eventually won the match 12-10, 11-3, 11-6 in 41 minutes.

"It feels great to retain the title," he said.

"I thought I played well today and I’m proud and happy to win the title again."

The opening rounds of the WSF World Junior Team Squash Championship are due to start tomorrow.
