Sweden’s boys' team enjoyed a perfect opening day at the 2019 International Blind Sports Federation Goalball Youth World Championships in Penrith, winning both their games.

A 15-8 win over Thailand was followed by an 8-5 victory at the expense of South Korea.

Olaf Ryberg scored eight of Sweden’s goals in the match against the Thais, while Oscar Alverstedt racked up six.

Alverstedt took over from Ryberg as Sweden’s top scorer against South Korea, finding the back of the net five times.

South Korea did triumph in their game against hosts Australia, however, with striker Se Bok Hong scoring five of his team's 10 goals without reply at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre.

Brazil, the silver medallists from the 2017 edition, defeated Poland 2-0 in their first match with their goals coming from Lucas Araujo and Braian Araujo.
