The 13-year-old won the gold medal in the men's 10 metre platform in front of a home crowd at the Liko Sports Centre.

Sereda caught the world's attention when finishing fourth in this event at the World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju and has now made a further mark on the global stage with victory.

After a disappointing fifth place for Ukraine in the mixed team event, Sereda got his hands on a gold medal with a total score of 488.85 points, just over 14 ahead of the rest of the field.

It is his second medal of these Championships, to go with his silver in the 10m mixed synchro, and the third gold for the host nation.

France's Benjamin Auffret finished second for the second successive European Championships in this event, scoring 474.90,.

Ruslan Ternovoi took bronze with 445.25, only 0.2 points ahead of Russian team-mate Nikita Shleikher.

Shleikher had won two gold medals already in these Championships in the 3m and 10m synchro events but could not add an individual medal to his collection.

Sereda's gold, in the final dive of these Championships, also brought to an end an extraordinary Russian run of gold medals in six consecutive events which continued earlier this afternoon in the women's 3m synchronised.

Uliana Kliueva and Vitaliia Koroleva narrowly defeated Germany's Lena Hentschel and Tina Punzel - who finished second for the second consecutive European Championships in succession - and the Ukrainian duo of Viktoriya Kesar and Anna Pysmenska, with just over three points separating the medal places.

Kliueva and Koroleva topped the standings with 290.70 points, with the Germans on 288.87 and the Ukranians in bronze on 287.37.

For 18-year-old Koroleva it was a second gold in as many days, after she triumphed in the 1m springboard.
