Unsuitable weather conditions prevented any racing from taking place on the opening day of the International Laser Class Association Laser 4.7 Youth World Championships in Kingston.

At the end of a disappointing day, each of the competitors had two opportunities to practice their starts at the Canadian city's Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.

There are no standings as of yet, however.

It is hoped better winds will prevail tomorrow.

Today was meant to be the first of three days of qualification races, with two races in both the boys' and girls' divisions.

The finals races are due to begin on Wednesday (August 21), with the event concluding on Friday (August 23).
