Around 15,000 people attended a two-day event in Stockholm, as part of an initiative from the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK).

The event in Kungsträdgården, a park in the city centre, gave children and youngsters the chance to try out sports such as climbing, 3x3 basketball and parkour.

It was staged to coincide with the SOK Olympic Day earlier this month.

The main attraction at the "Urban by SOC" event was a match on Sweden's national 3x3 basketball tour.

A host of Swedish Olympians were in attendance across the two days, including double world and multiple European boxing champion Anna Laurell Nash and two-time Olympic ice hockey medallist Danijela Rundqvist.

Tord Wikstén, an Olympic bronze medallist in biathlon, double World Indoor Championships medallist Johan Wissman and shooter Nathalie Larsson were also on hand to help inspire the children.

"That's exactly what we were hoping for," said SOK marketing manager Tobias Hauff.

"That there would come a lot of people and the new lifestyle sports like climbing, 3x3 basketball and parkour, that are part of the Urban by SOC concept, would be a little extra visible.

"We estimate the number of visitors to about 15,000 during these two days, which is a new record for the event."
