Russia's Daria Kirsanova topped the solo preliminary standings on day one of the International Swimming Federation World Youth Artistic Swimming Championships in Samorin, Slovakia.

Kirsanova managed a total of 86.5668 points at the X-Bionic Sphere Sport Complex.

Ukraine's Anastasiia Soldatenkova finished second with 84.3332 points, while Spain's Alba Garcia came third with 81.2332.

Russia also led the way in team preliminary rankings with 86.4332 points.

Ukraine were the runners-up with 85.3000 points and China ranked third with 83.4000.

Action in Samorin continues tomorrow with the duet and free combination preliminaries.

A figure session competition will be held on Friday (August 30) with the first medals in the solo, mixed duet and free combination awarded on Saturday (August 31).

The duet and team finals will close the event on Sunday (September 1).
