Top-seeded Egyptians Ali Farag and Raneem El Welily booked their places in the finals of the men's and women's events, respectively, at the China Squash Open in Shanghai.

World number one Farag proved too strong for third seed Saurav Ghosal of India on the showcase court at the top of the Peninsula Shanghai, coming through 11-4, 11-9, 11-4 in 34 minutes.

Farag’s opponent in the final of this Professional Squash Association World Tour event will be world number two Mohamed Elshorbagy, who came from a game down to defeat his younger brother Marwan 8-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-9.

"It’s very tough, physically and emotionally, to play against my brother," Mohamed said.

"We know each other very well.

"Mentally it’s so hard when you know each other, whoever came out of this match was definitely going to feel it the day after."

In the women's event, world number one and defending champion El Welily defeated compatriot Hania El Hammamy, the world junior champion, 11-8, 12-10, 11-8.

"I’m very pleased to be through to the final here in China,” said the 30-year-old Egyptian.

"It’s such a special place for me now, I’ve got good results almost every time here now, so I’m really pleased.

“We train together a lot together back home, as we train with the same coach, so we see each other’s games a lot.

"She is definitely improving every day and she is a solid contender to soon be in the top ten and a top player for sure.”

Third seed Nouran Gohar earned the right to meet El Welily as she beat the second seed, fellow Egyptian Nouran Gohar, 11-6, 11-5, 11-8 in 28 minutes.
