Defending champions the Netherlands will take on Italy in the gold-medal match at the European Baseball Championship after both sides came through their semi-finals in Germany.

The two last-four encounters were hard-fought affairs as the Dutch side edged out Spain 1-0, while Italy beat Israel 7-6.

Tomorrow's title decider will be a repeat of the 2014 final, where the Dutch overcame Italy.

Italy stand in the way of The Netherlands in their pursuit of a third consecutive continental title and 23rd overall.

Israel will have the chance to end the tournament on a high when they take on Spain for the bronze medal.

They are already guaranteed their best result at a European Baseball Championship.

The Czech Republic and Germany will contest the fifth place play-off tomorrow after they won their classification games today.

Germany thrashed France 14-4, while the Czech Republic overcame Belgium 5-4.

Britain survived relegation to the second tier of European baseball after easing to a 5-1 win over Croatia.

Defeat sends Croatia down alongside Sweden, who were relegated yesterday.

The tournament concludes tomorrow.
