Team Europe will take a 7-5 lead over Team World into the final day of the Laver Cup after the four matches on day two were shared in Geneva.

Europe led 3-1 overnight at the Palexpo venue in the Swiss city but United States player John Isner got Team World off to the perfect start with a 7-6, 4-6, 10-1 victory over Germany's Alexander Zverev.

Two points are rewarded for each victory on day two of the Laver Cup, compared to just one yesterday, so Isner's victory was enough to bring his team level.

The hosts then took control, however, as heavyweights Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal both claimed singles victories.

Swiss legend Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam champion, came from behind on home soil to beat Australia's Nick Kyrgios 6-7, 7-5, 10-7.

"It was a really close that first set so it was tough to lose," said Federer.

"The crowd could feel it, I could feel it.

"I needed to get some energy going but you can't do that if you don't play any good shots and Nick was playing very well.

"I was just trying to stay focused.

"If you can turn the momentum, the crowd gets back into it and I need some earplugs next time, it was just phenomenal."

Spain's Nadal, a 19-time Grand Slam champion who won the US Open last month, defeated Canada's Milos Raonic 6-3, 7-6.

He was then on the losing side in the doubles, however, going down 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 with Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas against Kyrgios and American Jack Sock.

It was a crucial win for Team World as it brings them back into contention before the final day, where three points for each win are available.

"Jack's had some tough injuries and to come back, put on a performance in singles and be our best doubles player is amazing," said Kyrgios, who blamed his defeat to Federer on being distracted by a "hot chick" in the crowd.

"Our whole team is coming together and we're going to ride this momentum into day three."

The Laver Cup is a tennis version of golf's Ryder Cup, with Europe winning both editions held so far.

Historical rivals Björn Borg of Sweden and American John McEnroe are captaining the two sides at the Palexpo's hard court.

Federer and Nadal, who have played many huge matches against each other, will team up tomorrow for an opening doubles clash against Isner and Sock.

Nadal will then play Kyrgios in singles before Federer is due to take on Isner.

The final scheduled match is Zverev against Raonic.
