Defending champions China recorded a comfortable victory over South Korea in their first group match of the Blind Football Asian Championships in Pattaya.

China's clash with South Korea completed the first round of group fixtures, with three matches on the opening day of the tournament.

The Group A match saw China cruise to an 8-0 win over their opponents at the Pattaya Youth Center.

China moved to the top of the standings above hosts Thailand, who defeated India 6-0 yesterday.

Paralympic silver medallists Iran recorded their second victory in Group B.

The recorded an empathic 10-0 win over tournament debutants Oman to ensure themselves of a place in the semi-finals.

Japan also ensured themselves a place in the semi-finals by beating Malaysia 2-0.

Iran and Japan now clash to decide which team tops the Group B standings.

Neither side have conceded a goal yet in Pattaya.

The group stage will continue tomorrow with China facing India in the early match, before Thailand face South Korea and Oman round off their group participation by playing Malaysia.

The top two teams from each group will feature in the semi-finals, with the International Blind Sports Federation tournament set to run until Sunday (October 6).

As well as continental glory, the two finalists will book their place at next year's Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Japan have already qualified for Tokyo 2020 as host nation, so the third-placed side will reach the Paralympics if they get to the final.
