The Russian star, leader of the overall standings, won the men's 100 metres freestyle and the men's 50m backstroke on another strong day at Europasportpark in the German capital.

He added to his victory from the men's 50m freestyle yesterday and strengthened his grip on the leaderboard as he aims to defend the seasonal title he won last year.

Morozov, aiming for a third overall World Cup title in all, won the freestyle in 48.02sec.

Katsuhiro Matsumoto of Japan took home silver in 49.00 and bronze went to Maxime Grousset of France in 49.16.

In the 50m backstroke, Morozov's winning time was 24.75.

Silver went to Michael Andrew of the United States in 24.97 as Russia's Grigory Tarasevich touched home in 25.14 for bronze.

Elsewhere, The Netherlands enjoyed a good day with two gold medals.

Kira Toussaint won the women's 100m backstroke in 59.46, with Canada's Taylor Ruck taking silver in 59.84.

Hungary's five-time overall World Cup champion Katinka Hosszú had to settle for third in 60.65.

Toussaint's compatriot Ranomi Kromowidjojo took home the women's 50m butterfly title in 25.67, beating Australia's Cate Campbell who ended in 26.12.

Three bronze medals were awarded as home swimmer Aliena Schmidtke, Denmark's Emilie Beckmann and Sweden's Michelle Coleman all timed in at 26.14.

Czech swimmer Barbora Seemanová won the women's 200m freestyle after touching the wall in 1min 58.78sec.

Coleman collected silver in 1:58.80 as Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary bagged bronze in 1:59.40.

Hosszú was not to be denied a victory as she finished first in the women's 400m medley in 4:38.15.

Jakabos completed a Hungarian 1-2 in 4:44.06 and bronze went to Ilaria Cusinato of Italy in 4:46.11.

Germany also enjoyed a home gold medal as Florian Wellbrock ended in 15:10.82 to win the men's 1,500m freestyle.

Albert Escrits of Spain won silver in 15:12.15 as David Aubry came home in 15:13.14 for French bronze.

The World Cup is due to conclude tomorrow.
