Liu Mao Yi won the overall physique title here at the International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) Men’s World Championships.

The Chinese claimed the accolade after topping the podium in the 179 centimetre contest.

He was too good for Morteza Ghasemivafaei of Iran and Khaled Jamal Alblooshi of the United Arab Emirates who finished second and third respectively.

Liu then beat the five other physique gold medallists in a final showdown.

Abdullah Humaid Rabiaq delighted the home crowd after winning the over-182cm event, with Ali Tamini of Iran claiming second and Wu Chen Long of China third.

Oleg Danysh of Ukraine was the victor in the men's physique 182cm.

Silver went to Vladislav Alekseev of Russia, while Lin Zhen Qu of China received bronze.

Farid Shirmohammadzadehlahroudi rounded off a successful day for Iran, earning his country its fourth gold medal.

He triumphed in the 176cm, followed by Khaled Mohamed Mubarak of Bahrain and Mahmood Darwish Khalil of the UAE.

Patryk Walczuk of Poland topped the podium in the 173cm, with Yaroslav Kononenko of Ukraine taking silver and Ionut Lepadatu of Romania settling for the bronze medal. 

The final physique gold medallist was Ryo Terashima of Japan in the 170cm. 

Second place went to Naser Khodami of Iran, while Abdulla Alhammadi of the UAE was given third place.

Competition continues tomorrow in the bodybuilding division.
