The Swedes started by beating England 9-4 before overcoming the Netherlands 10-3 at the Olympia Rink.

Scores of two in each of the first, fourth and seventh ends, as well as a three in the third, were enough to secure success against the Dutch in just seven ends.

It improves the home nation's record to five wins out of five.

They are followed in the standings by Switzerland, who won both their games today to move onto a record of four wins and one loss.

In their late game, Switzerland beat England, 8-7, after an extra end. 

They also defeated Russia 10-6 in the early game.

Germany, Italy and defending champions Scotland are tied for third place with three wins and two losses.

The Germans lost 10-3 to Italy before overcoming Russia 11-7.

Italy followed that up that victory by beating Norway 8-7.

Scotland defeated the Netherlands 9-3 before falling to a 6-5 loss at the hands of Denmark.

Denmark are tied for sixth place with Norway, who edged them 8-7 in the morning session.

In the women's event, Scotland suffered their first defeat after losing 11-4 against defending champions Sweden.

Earlier in the day, the Scots beat previously undefeated Switzerland 9-8 and Sweden, the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic gold medallists, overcame Latvia 9-2.

Like Sweden, Russia and world champions Switzerland have also moved level with Scotland on four wins and one loss.

Russia beat Denmark 9-3 and Czech Republic 7-3 today, while Switzerland bounced back their defeat against the Scots to overcome Norway 11-3.

Denmark, Germany and Norway are tied for fifth place.

The Danes beat Latvia 8-4 in their second outing of the day, while Norway defeated Estonia 7-6 in their first game.

Germany, meanwhile, followed up a 9-8 victory over Czech Republic by downing Estonia 7-6.

Both the men's and women's events are due to continue tomorrow, with round-robin action scheduled to conclude on Thursday (November 21).
