The International Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding (IFBB) 2019 World Fitness Championships are set to get underway here tomorrow.

Action commences at the Eurovia Aréna with the women's body fitness discipline, with participants contesting either the 158 centimetre, 163cm, 168cm or over-168cm categories. 

An Opening Ceremony and a parade of nations will then take place, followed by an afternoon of competition.

The winners of the men's fitness open, women's physique 163cm and over-163cm and the women's wellness fitness 158cm, 163cm, 168cm and over-168cm categories will be decided.

The semi-finals of the women's fitness 163cm and over-163cm are also scheduled.

The finals are set to take place on Sunday (December 1), followed by the women's bikini fitness 158cm, 160cm, 162cm, 164cm, 166cm, 169cm, 172cm and over-172cm categories, and a mixed pairs event.

Overall winners will be announced in each discipline, as will the best team. 

Ukraine were dominant at last year's competition in the Polish city of Bialystok, topping the medal table with nine golds, 13 silvers and three bronzes.

Russia finished second and Lithuania were third. 

The hosts' hopes lie with Kristina Juriková, who is expected to defend her women's fitness over-163cm title.  

The event has been organised by the Slovak Association of Fitness, Bodybuilding and Powerlifting and its President, Boris Mlsna.
