The Hungarian came up against Adrian Duszak of Poland in the gold-medal match, triumphing 20-10, 20-9.

Apor Gyorgydeak of Romania claimed the bronze medal after overcoming Montenegro's Bogdan Marojević 19-20, 20-5, 20-16. 

The matches were watched by footballing legends Ronaldinho of Brazil, William Gallas of France, Nuno Gomes and Simão Pedro Fonseca Sabros of Portugal and Carlos Puyol of Spain.

Earlier in the day, the hosts enjoyed even more success.  

Csaba Banyik and Zsanett Janicsek progressed to the mixed doubles final, having defeated Joel Nisslein and Dana Hillmann of Germany 20-5, 20-12 and Zsolt Lazar and Rita Mitri of Romania 20-12, 20-8. 

They are set to face Natalia Guitler and Marcos Viera.

The Brazilian pair, in impressive form, got past Aitor Vives and Silvia Ferrer 20-13, 20-14, before recording a 20-8, 20-13 victory against Maya Umicevic and Nikola Mitro of Montenegro.

Mitro was more successful in the doubles event, continuing his title defence alongside Marojević.

The duo began the day with a comfortable 20-5, 20-1 win against Matvey Filatov and Aliaksei Nikulin of Belarus, then going on to beat Rubens Pasino and Indrit Bejtaga of Italy 20-8, 20-10. 

A 20-9, 20-8 semi-final triumph against Szabolcs Ilyes and Lazar of Romania saw them set up a gold-medal clash with home favourites Banyik and Blázsovics, a rematch of last year's final in Reims. 

First up for the Hungarian athletes were Oleh Ushychenko and Dmytro Shevchuk, who they defeated 20-10, 20-10. 

Then came a 20-4, 17-20, 20-4 battle against  Lukáš Flaks and Tomas Macureck of Czech Republic and a more straightforward 20-10, 20-4 result against Julien Grondin and Hugo Rabeux of France. 

The finals of the mixed doubles and doubles are scheduled for tomorrow, when competition concludes.
