Czech Republic thrashed Latvia 14-2 today to make a winning start to Group B at the International Floorball Federation Women's World Championships in Neuchâtel.

Denisa Ratajova top scored for the Czechs with three goals at the Swiss town's Patinoires du Littoral, while Eliska Krupnova and Martina Repkova bagged two apiece.

Adela Bocanova, Tereza Urbankova, Natalie Martinakova, Nela Kapcova, Tereza Hanzlikova, Kamila Paloncyova and Nela Jirakova all chipped in with one apiece for the side ranked fourth in the world.

Latvia, ranked fifth in the world, replied through Anna Ankudinova and Paula Matisone but could not keep pace with their opponents.

The Czechs move level on two points with Sweden, 23-1 winners over Slovakia yesterday, at the top of Group B.

Action also continued today in Group A, with Switzerland beating Finland 7-4 to make it two wins out of two and Poland defeating Germany 4-1. 

In Group C, Estonia overcame Japan 6-4 before Norway kept up their unbeaten record by claiming a 5-4 victory over Denmark in the last match of the day.

Singapore, meanwhile, started their Group D campaign with a 3-1 win over Thailand.

A further six round-robin games are due to take place tomorrow.

Competition is scheduled to run through to next Sunday (December 15).
