Coop Suisse Romande, one of Switzerland's largest supermarkets, will become an official partner of the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games.

During the Games, which run from January 9 to 22, Coop Suisse Romande will support Lausanne 2020 in supplying the reception and recreational areas of the various competition sites and also in the city.

The supplies will include hygiene products and healthy snacks for athletes and volunteers.

Coop will also be present at the "Lausanne en Jeux!" festival in the city of Lausanne with a Naturaplan bus.

Cécile Cauderay, head of PR/sponsoring for Coop Suisse Romande, commented: "We are particularly proud to associate Coop Suisse Romande with this event, which is both exciting and embodies strong values which are close to our hearts."

Ian Logan, chief executive of Lausanne 2020, added: "We are obviously very grateful to have Coop Suisse Romande as a partner.

"Coop is more than just an emblematic name here in Switzerland, it is one of the symbols of our country, present in all our regions.

"It's also well known for its commitment to sustainability, particularly through its Naturaplan programme.

"Coop shares the fundamental values of Lausanne 2020, so it is only natural that this partnership was built."
