Defending champions Sweden were one of four teams to directly advance to the quarter-finals of the International Floorball Federation Women's World Championships in Neuchâtel.

Hosts Switzerland, Finland and the Czech Republic also advanced directly to the last eight.

Sweden secured top spot in Group B following a third straight victory, as they overcame Latvia 16-1 at the Patinoires du Littoral.

Czech Republic bounced back from their loss to Sweden yesterday to finish as group runners-up, as they beat Slovakia 19-3.

Both Slovakia and Latvia will still have an opportunity to reach the quarter-finals, after dropping into the playoff round.

Switzerland emerged as the winners of Group A as they celebrated an 11-0 win over Poland to record a third straight victory.

The result also guaranteed Finland a quarter-final spot as the group runners-up, having concluded their group matches yesterday.

Poland and Germany drop into the playoff round, which will feature the top two teams from Group C and D.

Norway will face Latvia in the playoff stage after winning Group C with three consecutive wins, while runners-up Denmark will take on Slovakia.

Group D winners Singapore will face Germany for the right to take on Sweden in the quarter-finals.

Australia, the Group D runners-up, will face Poland in the play-off round.

The play-off round will take place tomorrow, with quarter-final matches due held the following day.
