China's Chen Meng overcame compatriot Wang Manyu to seal a record-equalling third consecutive women's singles title at the International Table Tennis Federation World Tour Grand Finals in Zhengzhou.

Chen beat Wang 11-9, 11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6 at the Zhengzhou Olympic Sports Center to add to her triumphs at the season-ending event in 2017 and 2018.

Victory for the 25-year-old, a three-time world team champion, ensured she will finish the year as the world number one.

Second seed Fan Zhendong clinched the men's singles crown after defeating Olympic champion and team mate Ma Long 11-6, 12-10, 11-6, 6-11, 11-8.

The world number one's win saw him regain the title he last claimed back in 2017.

"It is never easy to play against Ma Long," said Fan.

"He showed and played at a very high level yesterday.

"I just focused on myself and played very patiently.

"As you know, I have experienced a lot of ups and downs this year.

"I learnt a lot lesson from this period and I hope I can turn these lessons to my fortune."

Fan also secured the men's doubles title as he partnered Xu Xin to an 11-7, 11-6, 11-13, 11-3 victory over Liao Cheng-Ting and Lin Yun-Ju of Chinese Taipei in the final.

Japanese teenagers Miyuu Kihara and Miyu Nagasaki reigned supreme in the women's doubles, defeating Jeon Ji-hee and Yang Hae-un of South Korea 12-10, 11-6, 11-6.
