Due to competition taking place at both the Musashino Forest Sports Plaza and Ariake Arena venues during the Games, two international technical delegates have been appointed.

The first is IWBF’s chair of the Competition Commission Charlie Bethel of Britain, while the second is IWBF Asia Oceania secretary-general Don Perriman of Australia. 

Supporting them will be the Tournament Technical Committee , formed of Craig Moorgas of South Africa and Petr Tucek of the Czech Republic, both part of the Committee at the 2018 World Championships in Hamburg. 

They will be joined by IWBF Americas President Stephen Bach of Canada and IWBF’s chair of the Technical Commission, Cristian Roja of Italy. 

Overseeing the level of refereeing will be six referee supervisors, Jon Burford of the United States, Matt Wells of Australia, Sergio Giordano of Canada, Tonia Gomez of Spain, Damir Kunosic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Edwin Wallaart of The Netherlands. 

There will be 26 referees from 21 countries making up the game crews, with 19 of the 26 referees having already taken part in the 2018 World Championships.

Included among the referees is Sebastian Gauthier of Canada, set to officiate at his sixth Paralympic Games. 

A consistent core of game commissioners has been retained from the 2018 World Championships, with the addition of Kean Koo Ang of Malaysia and Dirk Cossaer of Belgium, who will join Juan Magallanes of Mexico, Andrew Schoeman of South Africa, Nathalie Van Meurs of The Netherlands and Britain's Jan Timms.

"We are delighted to be able to announce the technical officials for next year’s Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games," said IWBF Secretary General Norbert Kucera.

"To be selected to officiate the wheelchair basketball competition at a Paralympic Games is the highest honour, alongside the World Championships.

"The line-up contains a wealth of experienced international officials as well as young, up-and-coming officials who will be officiating for their first time at a Paralympic Games. 

"As our pool of officials continues to grow, the selection process for every tournament becomes more difficult, but we are confident that this team will be a part of ensuring it is a successful championship."
