Jarl Magnus Riiber came second in the first race of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Nordic Combined World Cup event in Ramsau am Dachstein, ending an unbeaten run.

The Norwegian had been aiming for his sixth successive victory in the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup, but was defeated in the Austrian resort by Vinzenz Geiger of Germany. 

Geiger scored 107.0 points on the HS98 jump, before crossing the line of the 10 kilometres race in 27min 29.1sec. 

Riiber was just behind his rival, finishing 1.6 seconds off the mark after scoring 115.5 points on the jump.

Fabian Rießle finished on the podium in Ramsau once again, making it eight times since 2012. 

The German achieved 107.4 points on the jump, then finished the race in 27:34.9.

The competition is due to continue tomorrow with a second HS98/10km event.
