According to the governing body, the new site has been designed to "improve user experience" and "strengthen its status as the main hub of the sport".

Accessible at wkf.net, the site has a "renovated and intuitive layout", the WKF said, which reflects the organisation's "innovative essence".

Improvements include better photo and video features and the ability to share all of the website's content on social media.

Results, event information and competition details have been streamlined into micro-sites for each tournament, with content sections described as "fresh and modern".

The website comes as karate prepares for its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 this year.

It has been optimised to work on all devices.
