Olympic champion Maren Lundby will aim to top the podium once again, at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup in Sapporo.

The Norwegian triumphed in the first two events of this season's World Cup in Lillehammer, but failed to make the podium last month in the German town of Klingenthal.

Lundby is focusing on gold once again at the Japanese city's Ōkurayama Ski Jump Stadium.

She currently leads the overall World Cup standings with 245 points, while Klingenthal victor Chiara Hölzl of Austria is second with 240.

Slovenia's Ema Klinec is third on 180.

Fifty-five participants were registered for today's training session, which was then cancelled due to equipment operation malfunctions that prevented the maintenance of the jumping platform.

Competition is expected to go ahead tomorrow with an evening jump.

A second jump will then be held on Sunday (January 12), when action concludes.
