The finals will take place under the lights in the Austrian resort, with slalom returning for the first time since the season-opener in Lake Bannoye in Russia on December 7.

Three parallel giant slaloms have been held since then with Germany's Olympic bronze medallist Ramona Theresia Hofmeister winning all three on the women's side.

It means she leads the overall standings with 3,360 points and the giant slalom table with 3,000.

Switzerland's Julie Zogg won the slalom in Lake Bannoye and leads the discipline standings with 1,000 points after one race.

She will look for a second success of the season in the discipline, while Germany's Selina Jörg has finished second twice this term and could also challenge.

Jörg is currently second in the overall rankings, with 2,150 points.

Austria's Andreas Prommegger won the men's slalom in Lake Bannoye to head the discipline's standings in the early going, and will look to be a threat again on home snow.

Italian Roland Fischnaller leads the overall standings on 2,810 points after two giant slalom victories this season, but Russia's Andrey Sobolev won last time out in Scuol in Switzerland. 

As well as the individual competitions, Bad Gastein will also host the first mixed team event of the season on Wednesday (January 15).
