The first International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Cross World Cup of 2020 is set to take place in the Canadian resort of Nakiska over the coming two days.

Men's and women's qualification is tomorrow, followed by competition on Saturday (January 18).

Coming into the event, Canada's Kevin Drury leads the FIS Ski Cross World Cup standings for men with 396 points.

The 2019 world bronze medallist has won three of the six events held so far this season.

His nearest challenger in the standings is compatriot Kristofor Mahler with 302 points, while France's Bastien Midol is third with 248.

In the FIS Ski Cross World Cup standings for women, Sweden's Sandra Näslund leads the way on 450 points.

Switzerland's Fanny Smith occupies second place with 411 points, with the top three completed by Canada's Marielle Thompson on 404.

A further seven events across five locations are scheduled after the one in Nakiska.
