Sixth seed Nick Brett beat fellow Englishman Scott Edwards today to reach the last-16 of the open singles event at the World Indoor Bowls Championships in Norfolk.

The 2016 champion triumphed 8-3, 9-4 at Potters Leisure Resort's International Arena.

Awaiting him in the last-16 is 2006 champion Mervyn King, also of England, after he defeated New Zealand's Craig Tinker 12-2, 7-3.

Also through to the last-16 is seventh-seeded Scot Darren Burnett, who overcame England's Kevin Harrison 6-6, 7-4.

Standing between him and a place in the quarter-finals is England's Mark Dawes, a 13-4, 8-6 victor over New Zealand's Elliott Mason.

Action in Norfolk is due to continue tomorrow.

The four mixed pairs quarter-finals are scheduled to be held.
