Hong Kong's Ng Ka Long Angus won the men's singles final at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Thailand Masters to claim his first title for three years.

The third seed had to come from behind to beat Japan's Kenta Nishimoto in Bangkok, winning 16-21, 21-13, 21-12.

Ng had not won an event since the Malaysia Masters in January 2017.

His success at Indoor Stadium Huamark came after he beat three Chinese players in earlier rounds, including Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic champion Lin Dan in his opening match.

He also knocked out Youth Olympic Games champion Li Shi Feng in the second round and second seed Shi Yuqi in the last four.

Japan's top seed Akane Yamaguchi won the women's singles title, defeating South Korea's third seed An Se-young 21-16, 22-20.

It meant the Japanese player backed up her semi-final victory over Spain's reigning Olympic champion Carolina Marin yesterday.

China's top seeds Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan won the women's doubles final, defeating Baek Ha-na and Jung Kyung-eun of South Korea 17-21, 21-17, 21-15.

In the men's doubles final, Malaysia's Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi won an all unseeded duel against China's Huang Kaixiang and Liu Cheng, 18-21, 21-17, 21-17.

England's sixth seeds Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith won the mixed doubles title, beating Indonesia's fourth seeds Hafiz Faizal and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, 21-16, 13-21, 21-16.

The competition is a Super 300 event on the BWF World Tour.

The season will resume with the Barcelona Spain Masters, beginning on February 18.
