Canada's Jim Baba and Kevin Quinn have been named as the respective technical delegates for the baseball and softball competitions at Tokyo 2020.

Both sports will return to the Olympic programme this year after they were axed following Beijing 2008.

Baba is the executive director of Baseball Canada while Quinn stepped down after 18 years as President of Softball Canada last year.

Quinn is also a member of the Softball Hall of Fame.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation announced both appointments and have also confirmed a number of other officials for Tokyo 2020, where men's baseball and women's softball will be played.

American George Santiago, Canada's Shari Reiniger, Australia's David Nagy and The Netherlands' Jan Kuipers have been named as technical commissioners for baseball, with Santiago as director.

Canada's Roberto Perez-Leon will be the director of the softball technical commissioners, who also include Italy's Giovanni Sanna, Puerto Rico's Santos Vazquez Ortiz and Austria's Gabriele Hardinger.

Australia's Jennie Moloney has been appointed as director of the baseball scorers and will work with Spain's Pablo Carpio Navarro, American Brian Moore, Venezuela's Oscar Izaguirre Delgado and Mexico's Gabriel Almaraz Clorio.

The softball scorers will be directed by Rosalinda Steijger of The Netherlands, with her compatriot Dennis Duin, Puerto Rico's Rafael Valle and Italy's Maurizio Ronchi and Stefano Pieri completing the group.

Umpires for baseball include Americans Gustavo Rodriguez, who is director, Kevin Sweeney and Mark Winters.

They are joined by Cuba's Jorge Niebla Rodriguez, Canada's Trevor Grieve, Chinese Taipei's Chi Hua-Wen, Nicaragua's Jairo Mendoza, Mexico's Fernandez Duarte Gaspar, Italy's Fabrizio Fabrizi, Puerto Rico's Edwin Hernandez, Australia's Trent Thomas and South Korea's Kang Kwang Hoe.

Canada's Robert Stanton will direct the softball umpires and is joined by compatriots Geneviève Gaudreau and Frances Billingsley.

Also taking charge of matches will be Venezuela's Manuel Tovar Serrano, Puerto Rico's Jose Chaparro Santiago, American Christina Drumm, Italy's Gianluca Magnani, Mariana Prins of The Netherlands, China's Yu Zhiling, Australia's Kyira Cox and New Zealand's Mark Porteous.

Italy's Anna Maria Paini has been placed in charge of statistics while her compatriot Gianfranco Beltrami has been named as medical officer.

Softball will be held from July 22 to 28 at Tokyo 2020, with baseball following from July 29 to August 8.
