Two-time world champion Giana Lotfy secured a third consecutive title at the African Karate Federation (UFAK) Senior and Junior Championships at Tangier in Morocco.

The Egyptian star was the clear favourite in the women’s under-61 kilogram kumite competition at the Covered Hall Sport Ziaten, as senior events took the focus on the final day.

Lotfy lived up to expectations as she was awarded victory by the judges after a hard-fought final against Morocco’s Bitssam Sadini.

Egypt’s rising stars Mamduh Abdalla Abdelaziz and Feryal Abdelaziz were also able to secure continental titles.

Under-21 world champion Feryal Abdelaziz won the under-68kg women’s kumite event, as she earned a 5-1 win over Algeria’s Lamya Matoub in the gold medal bout.
