Hosts United States won the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Football (CONCACAF) Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship for the fifth time after beating Canada 3-0 in the final.

Both sides had already qualified for Tokyo 2020 but it was the Americans who enjoyed the extra gloss of winning the tournament.

All three goals arrived in the second half at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson as the four-time Olympic champions eventually breezed home.

Lynn Williams rocketed home the first from inside the box after an error from Canada's Jayde Riviere.

Lindsey Horan's neat finish made it 2-0 after 71 minutes and Megan Rapinoe, the winner of the Best FIFA Women's Player award, slotted home the third with three minutes left.

The reigning World Cup winners ended the event with five victories from five, scoring 25 times and never conceding.

They have won every edition of the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship since it was introduced before Athens 2004.

At Tokyo 2020, the Americans will be hoping to regain the Olympic title after their surprise quarter-final defeat to Sweden at Rio 2016.

They won gold at Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

Canada, the bronze medallists at London 2012 and Rio 2016, have lost to the Americans in the last four finals at the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship.
