The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has held its first sports administrators course in the capital Kampala.

The course was jointly organised by UOC and Buganda Kingdom, reported Kawowo Sports.

Henry Ssekabembe Kiberu, Uganda's Minister for Sports, recreation and leisure, was in attendance to deliver a closing speech to the 66 participants.

"I congratulate you upon having successfully completed the sports administrators course," he told them.

"Be good ambassadors.

"Put the acquired knowledge into perfect use.

"Do not fight existing structures within sports administrations of federations."

UOC President Williiam Blick was among the course's instructors.

Those attending represented 52 different clans or sports clubs.

The top performers included a referees assessor, a football club's general secretary and a public relations officer.

Uganda has competed in every Summer Olympic Games since it made its debut at Melbourne 1956, with the exception of Montreal 1976 when it joined a boycott of African nations.

It has won a total of seven medals, including two gold.

They were won by John Akii-Bua in the 400 metres hurdles at Munich 1972 and Stephen Kiprotich in the marathon at London 2012.
