The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has helped source over 600,000 masks and supplied warm clothing to Wuhan and other areas affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

Masks have been sourced and purchased overseas by the Chinese Table Tennis Association and are being "urgently packed and prepared for shipping", the ITTF said.

World Table Tennis, a new commercial arm funded by the ITTF, has donated warm clothing worth RMB3 million (£332,000/$427,000/€396,000) to support frontline workers in Wuhan, where the virus originated.

The clothing, being provided to doctors and nurses, includes winter jackets and sweaters, and the ITTF say it has been successfully shipped to the Chinese city.

The sport's worldwide governing body has already set up a training camp in Qatar for the 29-strong Chinese team who are set to compete at the ITTF World Tour Platinum Qatar Open from March 3 to 8.

At least 2,126 people have been killed by the virus, given the official title of COVID-19 by the World Health Organization, while over 75,600 have been infected worldwide.

All but around 10 of the deaths have come from China.

The outbreak of the virus has had a significant impact on sport as numerous events - including the World Indoor Athletics Championships, the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix and Olympic qualifiers - have been either cancelled, postponed or relocated from China.
