Sweden won the Women's Bandy World Championship for the ninth time after defeating Russia 3-1 in the final in the Norwegian capital Oslo.

Sweden have met Russia in every final since the inception of the tournament in 2004, losing only once in 2014.

The defending champions reached the final after a 9-1 thrashing of Finland in the semi-finals, while Russia defeated Norway 4-0.

Sweden topped the group ahead of Russia after winning a 3-2 thriller on day one of the competition.

In the third-place match, it was once again familiar opposition facing off as Norway played Finland.

Norway thumped Finland 6-1 to win the bronze medal in front of a home crowd, having won 2-1 in the group stage when the sides met.

It's the sixth time the two sides have met om the bronze-medal match, with both sides now winning three each in the head-to-head.

Japan finished sixth on their World Championship debut after losing to the United States.
