The criteria for equipment will be published no later than December 31 of this year, with the selected equipment due to be chosen by the end of 2023.

It is hoped the responses to the request for information will allow sailors to begin training and competing with equipment that is readily available in their countries.

On April 7, manufacturers and class associations will meet with the working party for further discussions.

Sailing at Paris 2024 will take place in Marseille, with an exact route for the keelboat event not yet decided.

The discipline will join kiteboarding, windsurfing, multihulls, singlehanded and doublehanded dinghies and skiffs at the Games in France.

Introducing a mixed event is part of efforts to ensure gender equality, with the men's finn class axed to make way.

Qualification events will take place on every continent and up to 20 countries will be on the start-line in Marseille.
