The 26-year-old beat Austria’s Alessandro Haemmerle to top spot in the four-strong big final.

Germany’s Paul Berg finished third, while Austria’s Jakob Dusek missed out on a podium place.

Victory capped off an excellent day for Eguibar, who won all his heats.

"I was so focused from the very first heat on, because I really wanted to win," he said.

"I put all my energy into every round and then managed to win. 

"My team and everybody did a really great job today, so I am really happy."

Haemmerle's second-place finish was enough for him to move back to the top of the overall FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup standings with 2,960 points.

He is 10 points ahead of Italy’s Lorenzo Sommariva, who finished fifth today.

Sommariva's compatriot Omar Visintin is third with 2,130 points.

In today's women's event, France's Chloé Trespeuch triumphed ahead of Italy's Michela Moioli, Australia's Belle Brockhoff and Czech Republic's Eva Samková.

Trespeuch, who ranked 11th in qualification, is familiar with the podium in Sierra Nevada as she took home the individual silver medal and a team gold medal from the 2017 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships.

"I am really happy with my result, especially because I had a tough beginning into the season and also today I had quite a bad qualification," she said.

"But the course was so much fun and it was fun fighting with the girls. 

"And since I won the silver medal here in 2017, I think it just shows that I like this place and this place likes me."

Moioli, who was the fastest in the qualification, remains top of the overall World Cup standings with 4,400 points.

She has 900 more than nearest challenger Brockhoff, while Samková is third with 2,710.

Because of the cancellation of qualification yesterday due to heavy wind gusts, it was held today in a single run time trial format, which saw the top 16 women and top 32 men advance to the finals.

The last FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup of the season is scheduled to take place in Veysonnaz in Switzerland on March 15.
