France came out on top in the mixed team trap event to claim their first gold medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation Shotgun World Cup in Nicosia today.

Carole Cormenier and Antonin Desert won the final with a total of 43 targets at the Cyprus Olympic Shooting Range "Lakis Psimolophitis".

Spain's Fátima Gálvez, the bronze medallist in yesterday's women's trap event, and Alberto Fernández had to settle for second place with 37 points.

In the bronze-medal match, Turkey's Safiye Saritürk and Yavuz İlnam beat Poland's Sandra Bernal and Remigiusz Charkiewicz by a slender margin of one target after finishing on 41.

A total of 24 teans competed in the mixed team trap event.

Action in Nicosia is due to continue tomorrow, with day one of the men's skeet event.

Competition is scheduled to conclude on Thursday (March 12).

A total of 312 athletes are representing 58 nations.
