Raneem El Welily began her title defence of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Black Ball Squash Open with a victory against Alexandra Fuller of South Africa.

The Egyptian and world number one overcame Fuller 11-8, 7-11, 11-2, 11-4 in the second round of the PSA World Tour Platinum tournament at Black Ball Sporting Club. 

"Alexandra played really good squash today and she put me under a lot of pressure in different corners of the court," she said.

"She moved the ball really well and all credit to her for doing that."

El Welily's next opponent is set to be compatriot and 12th seed Yathreb Adel, who came from one set down to triumph 7-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-4 against Joey Chan of Hong Kong.

Farida Mohamed of Egypt stunned sixth seed Joelle King, edging the New Zealand player in a close 5-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-9 win. 

She is scheduled to face Coline Aumard of France next, who also knocked out a seeded player following a 3-11, 12-10, 11-4, 9-11, 11-2 result against Egypt's Salma Hany.

Nour El Sherbini booked her place in the third round with a 11-5, 11-7, 11-6 victory against Millie Tomlinson of England, while Nadine Shahin narrowly defeated Hana Ramadan 11-7, 11-9, 6-11, 8-11, 12-10.

The two Egyptians will meet tomorrow as competition is set to continue.
