A qualification event for the men and women's European Curling Championships B-Division, the competition was due to take place from April 28 to May 5 at the Ledena dvorana Zalog.

Its cancellation follows the World Women's Curling Championship, the World Men's Curling Championship, the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship and the World Senior Curling Championships all being called off by the WCF.

The 2019-2020 curling season is now officially over with the WCF considering the fall-out on qualification for the European Curling Championships, as the A and B-Division competitions are set to be held in November.

In a statement from WCF President Kate Caithness, she said: "It's with great sadness we now declare the 2019-2020 international curling season over.

"Over the coming weeks we will take time to carefully consider all the repercussions of these cancelled events.

"My sincere thanks go to the Organising Committee in Slovenia for their hard work pulling this event together and their understanding in having to cancel it.

"As always, we are prioritising the health and well-being of our athletes and officials."

More than 204,000 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed worldwide, with 8,250 deaths.

Slovenia has one confirmed death, with 274 people infected and no recoveries yet.
