World ParaVolley have postponed the Beach ParaVolley World Championships Series event that was set to take place in Pingtan in China. 

Scheduled for between May 28 and 31, the second edition of the Championships was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

It is hoped that the competition can be rescheduled for October.

"World ParaVolley deeply regrets this situation but following the recommendations by the authorities to face this global health issue, it is paramount for the safety of all our athletes, officials and member national federations," a statement said.

The inaugural Championships Series saw the United States and China win gold. 

To date, there have been more than 395,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, a form of coronavirus, worldwide which has resulted in the deaths of over 17,200 people.
