Andreas Felder has stepped down from his position as the head coach of the Austrian ski jumping team after two years.

The decision was decided together with the head of ski jumping and Nordic combined at the Austrian Ski Association, Mario Stecher, with Felder leaving by mutual consent.

Felder is one of the most successful ski jumpers in history, winning 25 World Cups in his career, and has now taken a step back from coaching after the birth of his youngest daughter last month.

He coached Austrian ski jumpers from 1995 to 1997 and took the role of head coach in April 2018 after the nation under-performed at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics.

"The job as head coach of the Austrian ski jumpers is a task that requires you to give your all and it is very demanding," Felder said.

"For me, it's currently not possible to balance this with my family life."

Stecher thanked Felder for his efforts.

"Two years ago he took charge of the team in a difficult situation and he was able to successfully change the trend," he said.

Austria have claimed 40 World Cup podiums under Felder, with 11 wins.

The country also won three medals at last year's World Championships.

Stefan Kraft is one of the success stories of Felder's tenure, winning his second overall World Cup title this year.
