Barbadian sprinter Pearson Jordan has died at the age of 69, one of more than 37,000 victims of the coronavirus pandemic.

Jordan ran in the 100 metres at the Montreal 1976 Olympic Games, posting a time if 10.95 seconds as he was eliminated in the heats.

He also ran in the 4x100m relay. 

Jordan was 69 years old.

It is believed he could be the first Olympian to die from COVID-19.

As well as representing Barbados, Jordan ran track for Louisiana State University (LSU).

He received a varsity letter during his time at LSU and the university's athletics team paid tribute to Jordan on Twitter.
