The Medemblik Regatta and the Semaine Olympique Francaise have been announced as the latest Olympic sailing regattas to join the world of eSailing.

Following the successful hosting of the Trofeo Princesa Sofia Iberostar, and the ongoing Hempel World Cup Series in Genoa, the Medemblik Regatta and Semaine Olympique Francaise were announced as the latest regattas to join the electronic sailing platform, which has seen a spike in interest since the coronavirus pandemic put a stop to almost all international sailing regattas.

The Semaine Olympique Francaise starts on April 20 with the concluding medal races on April 26.

Meanwhile the Medemblik Regatta runs from June 4 to 7.

World Sailing and Virtual Regatta, a digital sailing platform, have worked closely with each regatta to recreate them as virtual racecourses.

An eSailing World Championship is currently running, while eSailors in a host of countries are currently competing in National Championships.

At each virtual regatta, two Olympic boats - 49er and the Nacra 17 - will be available for players to race.

The first few days of each virtual regatta consists of challenges.

Ranked medal races will then take place over the final two days, open to all players.

The medal races provide an opportunity for two eSailors {one from the 49er and one from the Nacra class} to qualify for the eSailing World Championship playoffs.

Through the playoffs, eSailors have the chance to qualify for the live final, where the 2020 eSailing world champion will be crowned.
