The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus (NOC RB) has launched an interactive way of displaying its greatest Olympic moments through social media.

As today is International Museum Day, NOC RB is presenting valuable items from its Olympic Museum and athletes' personal memorabilia through its pages on Instagram, Facebook and Russian platform VK.

Among items on display will be a pennant with the autograph of the then-International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Juan Antonio Samaranch, who held the position for 21 years from 1980 to 2001.

Samaranch was the second-longest-serving IOC President in history, with the NOC RB museum also displaying a medal named after the longest-serving IOC President, Pierre de Coubertin, belonging to four-time Olympic fencing champion Elena Belova.

Other memorabilia includes a fair play prize won by the Soviet Union's three-time Olympic wrestling champion Alexander Medved and the Hero of Belarus accolade given to retired biathlete Darya Domracheva.

Domracheva is one of only 11 people to receive the nation's highest medal after winning three gold medals at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and to date is the only woman to receive the honour.

Olympic and European Games medals of sprint canoeist Aliaksandr Bogdanovich will also be on display, as well as the awards of Olympic gymnastics champion Uladzislau Hancharou.

The equipment and medals of Olympic aerials champion Anton Kushnir will feature too.

A showcase of the achievements of Belarusian athletes at the Moscow 1980 Olympics is another virtual exhibit, with this year marking the 40th anniversary of those Games.

A virtual tour of the museum is also available on the NOC RB website.
